McMoms
Mid-Cities Mothers of Multiples
Meetings

General Membership

General Membership Meetings are typically held the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:00pm at the First Baptist Church of Hurst located at 1801 Norwood Drive in Hurst, Texas.  We welcome members, prospective members, and all expectant mothers of multiples.  Regular monthly meetings are for adults only; we regret child care is not provided.  Meetings consist of a time of mingling with other mothers of multiples, a brief business meeting and a special program chosen for the month.  Programs typically include a speaker, craft, forum, social time, etc.

September General Meeting

The September

The food theme is tail-gating with "A Sporting Good Time".  I hope to see you there.

General Meeting will be September 23rd at 7:00pm.  Our program ladies have rounded up Kim, who will talk to us about developing the Whole Child.  We worry about socialization, but what about spirituality, physicality and the rest?

August Meeting Recap

The August meeting was out of sight!! Literally.  I was at Walt Disney World.  I'm sure everyone had fun, but I'll get some stories at board meeting tonight and let you know if there is anything to dish.

Keep up the faith as Garage Sale looms in the horizon.  This means a lot of classifieds on Big Tent from mommies not wanting to tote stuff to the sale.  Do look for extra pages on the website to guide us through Garage Sale shoals.  Remember that friends and family can shop a little early.  Check posts from Cinnamon and Debbie on Big Tent for all details.

July Meeting Recap

The July meeting was serious business.  The 'wild side' decorations were cute, though it took me a minute to wonder why Misty told me to get lei'd. . . then I saw them hanging on chairs.  The new officers were given animal totems.  I'm a leopard for 'spotting' mistakes as editor.  (Which of course means that spelling/grammar errors will abound this year. I'm so jinxed!)  Also, someone is a hyena.  I don't know if it is for the infectious laughter, the matriarch system, or the fear she will turn mad from potty training boys.  PS.  Member of the Year was Misty Whitchurch!

As for lost items and bylaws, they sort of shoved us out the door at closing. Small cheers could be heard from the waitstaff as the lock slid home.  The food was excellent.  (Ask Kim or Leslie about our dessert joke at the next meeting.  It is soooo inappropriate, but it will be a nice ice breaker.)

To our new prospectives who came, please don't let us scare you away.  I loved the chance to meet you and bump chairs.  To those who didn't show, please come to the August meeting.  Ask for Alicia, Leslie, Kim, Misty or any other officer to show you the way.  Fortunately, I shall miss this meeting as I'll be at Disney World. (They claim it's the happiest place on Earth, I'll let you know.  You're actually allowed to 'rent' people to be at your beck and call all day, hmmm.  Those poor, poor cast members.)

June Meeting Recap

The political process is always amazing.  Yet, I don't think McMoms has it right.  There was no fighting, backstabbing or mudslinging.  In fact, elections went pretty quick and painless.  The new 2010-2011 McMoms Board members are:

President Misty Whitchurch
Co-VP of Membership Leslie Johnson and Kimberly Read
Co-VP of Parties Stephanie Gross and Denise Hunter
Co-VP of Fundraising Debbie Martin and Cinnamon Hindman
Librarian Erin Miller
Treasurer Tabatha Spiller
Secretary Karen Mooneyham
Historian  Amanda Starnes
Newsletter Jennifer Warzecha

The Board positions for Chaplain and State and National Rep are still open if anyone is interested.

May Meeting ReCap

The May meeting brought Brandi Keezel, M.Ed, LPC, to talk to us about bullying.  I requested separation anxiety and others looked for answers to school issues.  We had a wonderful Q&A session which Brandi kept on track and I think we learned some valuable information.

Map and Building Directions

The First Baptist Church of Hurst is located at 1801 Norwood Drive in Hurst, Texas 76054.  At the church, the entrance is on the west side under the portico.  Upon entering the building you will see an elevator on the left.  Just past the elevator, you will see a set of stairs leading to the second floor.  Once on the second floor simply turn right and follow the  hall to the end at room 211.  We will be talking loudly, so feel free to walk in and join the conversation.  We look forward to meeting you.

Executive Board

Executive Board Meetings are usually held at 7:30pm on the first Thursday of the month at Harris HEB Hospital.  These meetings are also open to all members of McMoms.  Please contact the McMoms President at tripletblessed@hotmail.com for specific details if you are interested in attending.
